Jewellery Care
STUDIO HIRAM pieces are crafted to last a lifetime, but they do require care. Designed for everyday wear, your jewellery will evolve and develop character as you wear it. Over time, all jewellery naturally changes with use, and stones can be damaged if not properly cared for.
To keep your jewellery in the best condition, we recommend storing it in a safe, dry place or in the bag provided with your purchase when it's not being worn.

The Details
Caring for Sterling Silver
925 Sterling Silver becomes tarnished over time naturally - it is best kept clean by wearing it. Precious metals can be affected by chemicals such as perfumes, body lotions, and cleaning products. Putting on your jewelry after you have finished dressing will minimize the effects of these chemicals. Please remove your jewelry when swimming in pools, hot tubs, spas, and the sea/ocean.
How to clean Sterling Silver
- If your jewelry has been exposed to water, everyday products, or is just looking a little dull, you can bring it back to its original shine with a jewelry polishing cloth. Just be sure to avoid using the cloth on any gemstones.
- For the best results, try using a silver cloth like the "Hagerty Silver Cloth," which is specially treated to gently clean and provide a few weeks of anti-oxidation protection. (*Not sponsored—our founder swears by this cloth for his own pieces!)
- If you notice any stubborn debris, soak your jewelry in lightly soapy water for a few minutes, then use a soft or baby toothbrush to gently clean it in a circular motion, being careful to avoid any gemstones.
- And remember, always dry your jewellery gently before storing it to keep it looking its best!
Caring for Gemstones
Stones vary in hardness, so it’s important to handle them with care to prevent chips or breaks. Different gemstones can also scratch each other if stored together, so it's best to keep them separate. To ensure they stay beautiful for years to come, always be gentle when moving or placing them down.
How to clean Gemstones
- If you need to clean your stones, a simple solution of lukewarm water and mild, chemical-free dish soap works wonders. Just use a soft or baby toothbrush, gently brushing in a circular motion to remove any trapped debris.
- Always dry your jewellery gently before storing it to keep it looking its best!
Caring for Pearls
Pearls are timeless treasures that deserve a little extra care. To maintain their natural beauty, we recommend following the simple tips below.
How to clean Pearls
- Clean with a damp cloth only as needed. If your pearls are visibly stained, you can mix a solution of lukewarm water and chemical free, mild dish soap, dip a soft cleaning cloth in it and wipe the pearls. Do NOT submerge pearl jewellery in water, as it will weaken the silk thread.
- Let them dry all the way before storing - this helps preserve the elasticity of the silk strand.
- Do not use steam or ultrasonic jewellery cleaners. Both of these methods are likely to damage the outer layer of the pearl.
- Do not submerge your pearls in water - we recommend no showers, baths, saunas or swimming while wearing your pearls. Soaking the silk your pearls are strung on causes it to stretch out and break early.
- Keep pearls away from chlorine bleach, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, ammonia, hairspray, perfume, and other cosmetics, as these substances will damage the pearl surface.
- Lastly, to keep your pearls in top shape, we recommend having them restrung every two to three years, or once a year if you wear them often. We’re here to help with all your repair and maintenance needs, so feel free to reach out to us anytime for more information!
Storing Pearls
- When storing your pearl necklaces, it's best to lay them flat to keep them from stretching. Hanging them on a hook might seem convenient, but it can put strain on the silk and cause the necklace to lose its shape over time.
